Date Jar

This post is not so much to teach you how to make this cute "Date Jar" but more to tell you about my night and my thoughts on romance and how to keep it alive. By looking at the pics its pretty easy to re create your own version at home. We made this tonight at a enrichment activity (woman's group at church). The topic was "fun date ideas". And after hearing about lots of cute and creative date ideas, we made these :) Most of it was already made, all we had to do was glue the labels to the brown postcard paper tag, tie some raffia and write our personal date night ideas on the sticks. Once you write the different date ideas, you place them in the jar and when the day comes you chose a stick depending what kind of night you are wanting,  and that's the date you go on. Cute idea huh?

I was asked to speak on romance and how to keep it alive after so many years. I've only been married 7 years going on eight in April but I do realize that in order to keep it alive it has to become a priority to you. You can't let life, school, work or the kids get in the way of tending to your marriage and keeping that flame alive. That flame may not always be on high, but its very important to keep it going even if life only allows it to be ever so dim. (little love notes are my favorite during busy /hectic times.)

The actual definition of romance is: A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love. That is so on point because the times I've had the most romantic dates was when there was a little mystery and anticipation of what was to come. My most recent romantic date was a little out the box. We packed some clothes and our bathing suits and went to a really nice hotel in downtown Memphis, bought day passes that gave us access to the indoor jacuzzi and pool ( all hotels/resorts offer something like that, try it). We enjoyed the amenities and the romantic ambiance then took showers and rode the trolley over to our favorite restaurant, Majestic Grill and enjoyed an incredible dinner. It felt like a mini vacation getaway but unfortunately it only lasted a few hours. We also love going to concerts at arenas and basketball games, those are always such exciting dates but we don't get to do them so often cuz we end up spending $100 or more and thats on a budget! Then of course we are all about the cozy at home dates too. Red box and Pizza delivery or take out. Now that we have 2 kids, date nights are considered sacred and much needed! I hope this gave you some ideas. Let me know if you recreate your own date jar.
