Train set and lesson learned
When Liam was about 1.5 he loved going to Barnes and Nobles to play on the Thomas train set. We would seriously spend hours there. I would get cozy sitting Indian style on the floor to a good book, usually something business or marketing related and Liam would play and play. So when his 2nd birthday rolled around we thought it would be the perfect gift for him. We lucked out and found an amazing train set with table and all on Craigslist for $125! It was like new. James set it up while Liam and I were out, and we surprised Liam with it when we got home. Shouting out a big "Surprise" as he entered the room upstairs. His reaction was not what we expected lol. He kinda walked up to it slowly and played with it like it was no big deal. For the rest of the year he played with it here and there but it mainly served as a war zone or stomping ground for dinosaurs who destroyed train sets. We never saw the hours of playing time like we did at BnN (of course) To avoid a big mess, I finally had to put some of the big parts away and only allow him to play with a small part of the track. Until yesterday. I asked him if we wanted me to set it back up and he was excited to do it and since then has been playing on it like no other. So lesson to be learned. Wait till you kid is 3yrs old or older to get them a really expensive cool gift :)
