How to finely chop an onion

This is a little trick on how to finely chop an onion. My step mom taught me it many years ago. This technique is perfect for homemade salsa, guacamole and dips. Sometime the food processor can make an onion taste bitter and I also doesn't leave you with perfect little squares which is nice if you are wanting to give your dishes a nice fancy touch. Here's how to do it

Step 1. Take a knife and slice it horizontally then vertically. You can go as deep as you like depending on how mch onion you need. For a small amount refrain from cutting too deep

Step 2. Turn the onion on its side and slice down. The smaller you want your onion squares the closer to the slits you must cut

Step 3. Done
