Conference with kids

I may be a little old school but I miss the days when the only place you could watch conference was at the church. The dark chapel, notepad in hand ready and eager to take notes. Closely listening for messages that I knew for sure were directed at me. And let's not forget the family picnics on the lawn outside( fond memories!!!).
I thought it was cool when we were finally able to watch it from home on the Internet but even then, I found so easy to be distracted and even easier to doze off as you lyed in your bed in your PJs. Now Throw some kids into the mix and your lucky if you get to hear ONE talk all the way thru. Ha! Of course I always turn up the volume and easily tune out the kids when Elder Holland speaks but after that its so hard to really pay attention in between getting snacks, drinks, potty breaks cries and playing noise. Ahh the joys. We invited some friends over during the 2 hour intermission. They have kids that are of similar ages which is doubled the chaos but it was so nice to be able to get some adult time while the kids ran free in the back yard. I'm looking forward to more entertaining like today once my husband is finally done with residency. 60 days left but whose counting :)

* Conference is a bi-annual church service where members of my church congregate everywhere in the world in homes and chapels to listen to inspirational messages from the leaders of our church. For more info in the church we attend visit http://Mormon.org

First time we used our back patio to eat in 4 years

Omg no girl. I feel the same way. I SO MISS THOSE FAMILY PICNICS ON THE LAWNS OUTSIDE. I'm lucky I live close enough to SLC that I can actually attend GC in person. I'm glad you were still able to get goodness from Conference weekend even with distractions! It must be so dang hard to focus on Conference with so much going on and so much to take care of. Way to be awesome!

I think when I'm married and have kids, I'll have us go to the closest chapel and watch Conference there. And have those awesome picnics outside.
